Ranshima is about a 2 hour drive west of Sapporo (past Otaru, in the town of Yoichi). The drive is however definitely worth it. Ranshima does not have that many beach houses, and is usually not as crowded as Otaru Dream Beach, but has nicer sand and much cleaner water. Can also be used as a camp ground (costs around 1000 yen to park your car).
